About us

The Buckeye Valley Youth Basketball Association (BVYBA) is a self-funded/insured, registered not for profit entity, and all volunteer program operated by parents of BV kids! BVYBA is not affiliated with BV Schools or any other club.

April and Jeremy Scowden are the commissioners of this program. Jeremy and April were both previous MVP players for Buckeye Valley and went on to play at the next level. April was an All State player who went on to play for West Virginia University and Jeremy played for OSU-Newark. Their vision of a youth basketball program is based on sportsmanship and player development.

All of us at Buckeye Valley Youth Athletic Association would like to thank you for your interest in our youth basketball program. Our intent is to provide the parents as well as the atheletes of our community with background information about our program and the details of it's operation. We hope our website provides information that is beneficial to all who visit.

  • Acknowledge that BVYBA promotes the physical, mental, spiritual, moral and emotional soundness of the individual players.
  • Understand and accept the rules and regulations of the game.
  • Respect the integrity and judgment of the game referees.
  • Create an enjoyable atmosphere for all visitors and guests during BVYBA games.
  • Always demonstrate friendly and courteous attitudes toward opponents and game referees.
  • Play fairly and strive for good values.
  • Emphasize good sportsmanship.
  • All adults should conduct their behavior in a positive fashion. Adults are role models for our players.
  • Spectators shall never harass the game referees or players or coaches. Cheer every good play, no matter who makes it. Praise our children, and please always recognize the good and never the bad!
  • Players shall play for the love of the game – winning without extreme ego, losing without excuses, and never quit.
  • Encourage leadership, use of initiative, and good judgment.
