CORE PRINCIPLES

We have three core principles for our league. We abide by these core principles to make sure we all have fun and stay active.

  • HEALTY COMPETITION

However, the “win-at-all-costs” mentality so prevalent in youth sports today is not only destructive to team morale, it severely undermines individual self-esteem. We believe in a healthy competitive environment that allows everyone an opportunity to make the most of their abilities.

  • GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP

We believe that learning to play the game is only half the equation. Helping children develop character is the other half. The value of teaching children teamwork, fair play and good sportsmanship goes far beyond the game.

  • FUN

We believe that the primary reason children play sports is to have fun. They love mastering new skills, developing friendships, and healthy competition.

We base our League on these Principles. We expect our Coaches abide by them to benefit all BVYBA athletes.

A Message from Coach Pennington

As soon as I got the opportunity to be the Head Girls Basketball coach at Buckeye Valley, I stated that I was not the high school coach but the coach of the entire program from K-12. Through our Youth Night and summer camp we have built a family culture and that carries over to our Youth basketball program. I am grateful to the people that give up their time to help and teach proper fundamentals for the girls. This year we plan on having our high school girls pop in practice and interact with our youth to continue to build our family. We have built something special, and I look forward to watching our youth program continue to grow.

A Message from Coach Shuster

As a youth basketball program our mission is to develop both the individual player and the team as a whole, with a focus on creating a positive team-first culture where players can grow, have fun, and develop a love for the game. Our goal is to create a strong culture just not at the high school level but also in our youth program. I want to say thank you to our youth program, because of their hard work and dedication, we benefit as a Basketball program. I look forward to working with you and I'm excited for the season. Go Barons!
